A good study tool to study math concepts is to use Marzano's Organizational Diagram method. You can either put the word in the center of a 3x5 card, circled, and then draw a line through the middle of the card in both directions. Splitting the card into fourths. The top left hand box is were you write the textbook definition for the word. In the top right hand box, you define the concept in your own words. In the bottom left hand box, you make a drawing of what you are defining. In the bottom right hand box, you put a real world example.
Example:
Perpendicular Lines
Text book definition: At a 90 degree angle. Definition in your own words
90 degree angle
Drawing:
Real world example:
Roads connecting at a 4-way stop.
Example 2 drawing connecting it to the Real world example (optional to do multiple drawings).
